I know I’m scheduled for it, but I think I’ll just call in sick 15 minutes before the shift starts.

I’m catering for 40
may your preset menus remain unaltered.
Side note, be extra careful driving home anytime tonight or early tomorrow as Drunk driving is absolutely out of control during this holiday.
I do breakfast for oil camps in Alaska, only serving 26 people. Not touching dinner at all (I did offer help if the day crew needed it)
And also with you
Good luck to everyone!!
RIP to all the brunch cooks tomorrow. My LEAST favorite day by FAR in the kitchen when I was in the industry.
Yep.
ahahahahaha
months ago I told my boss I would be his bitch for every other holiday, but he has enough people and I’ve been there long enough, he can find someone else to do NYE.
little did i know how prophetic my statement was, considering I put in my 2 weeks’ on December 11. new place isn’t putting me on till Monday so I’m enjoying my only free NYE I’ve gotten and likely will get in years
I’m at work right now. At least I’m sober this time.
I took off today and tomorrow to spend some time with my son and see friends tonight….get a text 2 hours from the restaurant opening asking me to come in because someone called out. Felt okay saying no.

I deliver pizza. RIP me
Location and restaurant dependent I’m sure but the place l worked the grill in college was always dead on NYE.
As someone who worked every New Years for 20+ years when I was still an active line cook, I salute you all!

Got a nice 2-close tonight, praying
Frontline warriors of humanity, passion and culture:
I salute you.
The Force and double pay.
I work in a production kitchen now. We’re all off tomorrow and ain’t no one working past 530 tonight.

Thanks! I need it. I haven’t done this in a while. Helping a friend out who had staff call out due to the flu.
“I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if a million line cooks cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.”

I went to a Catholic school growing up so whenever I hear “May the force be with you.” My immediate response is, “And also with you.”

240 on the books with capacity of 200, not including the walk ins. It’s gonna be great!
This too shall pass. Just another day in the office. I love the smell of fry grease in the morning. ( I could go on for hours with this) Smile you son of a bisque! Everyone get your game face on. Tonight we dine in hell!
Just clocked in, 12 till 2am … in downtown NYC
I guess i’m just lucking out- i’ve always had tuesday/wednesday as my “weekend” so I lucked out getting xmas eve and NYE off this year. Many, many other years in the past i’ve worked those days.
May the MEP be with you
